Healthier Nails

Nails reveal a great deal about our personality and our health. Composed of Keratin (a protein) and minerals, nails protect our fingertips, and rely on the supplies of protein, B vitamins, vitamin A, Calcium, Zinc, Iron and Iodine we take in. Without proper nutrients nails will communicate deficiencies on the surface. Deficiencies can take place because we are not keeping nourishing diets, or because our bodies may have difficulty assimilating nutrients. Glandular issues such as hyper-thyroidism can contribute to unhealthy nails that are either too soft, dry and brittle, spotted, ingrown, stricken with fungus or more.

Feel Good Challenge#1

As part of an ongoing effort to share inspiring actions that fuel vitality, FruttiKrem will be offering new challenge and feedback features. These challenges may include two day detoxes, all-fruit skincare regimens, personal assessment days, affirmation programs to reshape positive perception, and similar.

Our first challenge is simple:

Why I'm Special.

You'll need:

A Journal or FruttiKrem workbook (not yet released)
15 minutes a day of your time for two-four weeks
A calendar to keep track of action days (opt'l)

Action:

For 15 minutes a day over the course of 14 days, you will take time to write out different things that set you apart from the rest. This action is non-competitive. Anything you do is already unique because there is only one you. The benefit of this action is that you will begin the process of reacquainting yourself with yourself.

When the fourteen days pass, take an optional 14 additional days to read from your writings each day, in preparation for the next challenge.

Why is this a challenge, you ask? It is simultaneously a discipline tester and builder. It also requires you to break past any barriers you may have that involve looking at yourself objectively, by siting your characteristics and evidence of where these characteristics play out. The advantages to this challenge exercise are immense because we often forget how individual we are, and how much important that makes us to the world collective. Once we begin the process of seeing our value, our motivation to increase our vitality takes on massive growth.

Please share your feedback about the challenge and talk with other challenge participants in the comments.

The Raw Food Pyramid

Some nutrition experts tout the benefits of a Raw Food Diet for improved digestion, supported aging, and curative effects on pre-existing ailments. Converting even a small percentage of your diet to raw food can make a measurable difference in your vitality levels. Substituting 1 or even 2 meals a day for a fortified smoothie, or juiced drinks can improve your health dramatically. You can even use a dehydrator on a small circle of dough to create your own wraps for raw food elements such as onions, cucumbers, carrots, hummus, coconut oil and other preferred raw ingredients. The same can be done with pizza dough for raw food pizza. There are an amazing amount of selections for your designated raw food meal of the day available via:

High Energy Foods

In today's current fast-paced environment, people often find it a challenge to remember to adequately nourish their body, no doubt considering the preparation of certain high energy foods, a drag. But in reality, it is just as easy to grab foods that will do you a service, as it is to grab foods that will make it difficult for your body to function at its optimum level. The only real time requirement is the time it will take to write out a grocery list that includes the high energy foods you will need to have access to throughout the day. It all boils down to energy, and whether you have at least an adequate amount, or are lacking the energy your body needs to do its job. Low moods and emotional depression have strong ties to poor diet. Before looking to anything else, nutrition is the first place to start, when seeking to get back into balance.

We've compiled a short list of easily accessible foods that you can incorporate into your diet to boost your overall vitality and keep your energy levels where they should be throughout the day:

Soy Nuts:
These nuts are high in Omega 3 fatty acids, which aid the circulatory system and hence bloodflow. Awareness and agility are increased when soy nuts are taken in, and mood can even be uplifted as soy is sited as a depression fighter.

Berry Cup:
A cup of berries may be the answer to your high energy needs. Berries are chock full of anti-oxidants and have high water content. They will keep you hydrated, which will increase your energy level.

Peanut Butter:
Peanut Butter is high in protein but it also contains Tyrosine, an amino acid that you helps concentrate.

Watermelon:
Watermelon is a delicious fatigue fighter because it contains Iron, Potassium, Lycopene, and Vitamin C while also containing the hydrating titan: water. Hydration gives the body's cells greater hydration, which increases energy levels.

Pumpkin Seeds:

400mg of magnesium can decrease fatigue by 89%. Fortunately a 2.5 oz bag of pumpkin seeds can provide just that amount. Magnesium converts the foods you take in, into energy, and the iron in pumpkin seeds provides oxygen to cells, which also creates a high energy physical environment for your lifeforce.

For Those Looking To Properly Mix Raw Foods

Click the image for a larger version of the chart.
Converting your diet to even a small percentage of raw food can make a tremendous difference in how your system energizes itself and rids itself of toxins.

Replacing breakfast with a daily shake filled with fruits and vegetables (fruits will cancel out the taste of the vegetables if they are added in larger measure) can make a major difference in how you feel for the rest of the day, as well as how your digestive system assimilates nutrients in service of your vitality and overall health.

Very Important Labels: Fair Trade

The label above tells you that the products bearing it, are traded fairly.
Oftentimes items that aren't fairly traded severely cheat third world farmers, with practices that are often little better than modern-day slavery.

Whole Foods houses many fair trade items, and there are many other ethical merchants doing the same.
Your can find more information here:

http://www.fairtradefederation.org/
http://www.transfairusa.org/

The more we make sure our sugar, chocolate, coffee, and other staples are fairly traded, the sooner it will become so commonplace no one will have to worry about the "little Guy" having rightful earnings taken.

The Amazing Properties Of Pomegranate

The pomegranate's origin spans from Iran to The Himalayas of North India. It has been widely used in India and some parts of Asia, such as Tropical Africa, Malaya, and the East Indies. In the US it is grown in California and Arizona.

Being an ancient fruit high in rich cell damage preventing anti-oxidants, heart disease prevention benefits, skin support, and even prostate cancer inhibitors, Pomegranate's benefits warrant a triple take. It improves speedy healing of wounds and damage to the skin in general, including damage from the sun, aging, and other environmental factors. The retardation of aging that pomegranate is purported to provide comes in some part from fibroblasts, which maintain the matrix in animal tissue as producers of elastin and collagen (which provide skin support- and cause the skin to sag and wrinkle when broken down). Topical applications of oil, mashed pomegranate (mashed or blended at home as a mask), or its pure juice as a tonic can easily prevent the breakdown of fibers, fortify the skin by thickening (the epidermis and dermis), and even reduce the beginnings of some forms of skin cancer.

Why Wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass is part of the common wheat plant used often after its properties are liquefied through a juicer, or dried into a powder. It contains chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, enzymes and vitamins. Many have called it a complete food in and of itself. Its curative properties have been applauded by many who have spread the word and increased interest in the phenomenon of adding wheatgrass shots to drinks, or taking them as a pure shot. Though available at most juicerbars in one form or another, it can also be grown and juiced at home.
Wheatgrass is said to have a bitter taste if there is an imbalance in the person consuming it, but overtime, wheatgrass consumers say the bitter taste becomes a sweet taste.
It is also said that 1 ounce of wheatgrass is the equivalent of 1kg of green vegetables. It is an aid for improving digestion, curing constipation, detoxifying heavy metals from the blood, preventing cancer, promoting general well-being, and helping to ease menopause, in addition to preventing diabetes and heart diease.

Cultivation & Usage
(From Wikipedia)

Schnabel's research was conducted with wheatgrass grown outdoors in Kansas. His wheatgrass required 200 days of slow growth, through the winter and early spring, when it was harvested at the jointing or reproductive stage. It was at this stage that the plant reached its peak nutritional potential; after jointing, concentrations of chlorophyll, protein, and vitamin decline sharply. [1] Harvested grass was dehydrated and made into powders and tablets for human and animal consumption. Wheatgrass grown indoors in trays for ten days contains similar nutritional content. Wheatgrass grown outdoors is harvested, dehydrated at a low temperature and sold in tablet and powdered forms. Wheat grass juice powder (fresh squeezed with the water removed) is also available either spray-dried or freeze-dried.

The average dosage taken by consumers of wheatgrass is 3.5 grams (powder or tablets). Some also have a fresh-squeezed 30 ml shot once daily or for more therapeutic benefits a higher dose up to 2–4 oz taken 1-3 times per day on an empty stomach and before meals. For detoxification, some users may increase their intake to 3–4 times per day. It should be noted that consumers with a poor diet may experience nausea on high dosages of wheatgrass. Outdoor wheatgrass is harvested for a few days each year from plants grown in the "bread basket" regions of the US and Canada. Winter wheat requires more than 200 days of slow growth in cold temperatures to reach the peak nutritional content. Even after that length of time, the plant is only 7 to 10 inches high.

Goji: Berries, and Teas, and Juices Oh My.

What are they?

Goji berries are shriveled red berries in the nightshade family that look just like raisins. They grow on an evergreen shrub and are found in the moderate to subtropical regions of Mongolia, the Tibetan Himalayas, and China.

Why are they so popular and how should I use them?

Goji's benefits include aiding eyesight, strengthening the legs, promoting longevity, improving circulation, boosting the immune system, improving fertility, and protecting the liver. Goji is also a Pituitary gland stimulant rich in anti-oxidants such as carotenoids, beta carotene, and zeaxanthin (an eye protectant that may help age-related macular degeneration).

In traditional Chinese medicine, Goji berries are eaten raw, brewed into a tea, added to Chinese soups, or made into liquid extracts.

Is it safe?

There is some chance that Goji can interfere with anti-coagulant drugs.
It is advisable to consult your naturopath and/or physician if you are on blood-thinning medication. Other than that, Goji is completely safe.

The Benefits Of Juicing

The Benefits Of Juicing

The trend couldn’t come at a better time. Recently, the National Cancer Institute began a campaign to get people to do one simple thing –
EAT MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. Specifically, the recommendation was to eat five servings
of fruit and three servings of vegetables a day, and their reasoning was simple:
a diet high in fruits and vegetables will prevent or cure a wide range of ailments.

Many of us have relatively compromised intestines as a result of poor food choices over many years. This limits our bodies ability to absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables and juicing tends to facilitate this absorption. Also, vegetable juicing allows you to eat more of the vegetables than you normally would otherwise. By incorporating the juice into your healing diet you will easily be able to reach the roughly one pound of raw vegetables per fifty pounds of body weight that is generally recommended we should eat every day.

Consuming nothing but fresh, diluted juices from various fruits and vegetables for a day or more is a safe and helpful form of fasting. I believe that juice fasting actually works better than a straight water fast, because it helps to eliminate wastes, old or dead cells while building new tissues with the easily accessible nutrients from the juices. The more drastic water fast is the more intense, often resulting in more sickness and less energy, than fasting with fruit and vegetable juices.

Breast cancer, cancer of the colon, esophagus, stomach, lungs ovaries, and rectum – pick and ailment these days, it seems, and researchers somewhere are searching for chemicals in plants that will prevent them, or offer a cure. These plant chemicals, known as phytochemicals, are the cutting edge of nutritional research because they hold the keys to preventing some of our most deadly diseases, such as a cancer and heart disease, as well as some of our most common, like asthma, arthritis, and allergies.

The Mechanics of Feeling Good, part 1

At FruttiKrem we offer simple but sage advice: Feel Good.
It is advice we believe in so deeply, we've made it our slogan.
Why is feeling good the ultimate advice? Feeling Good is master advice because the bulk of our lives are built upon our vibrations. Quantum physics has proven it. We receive what we vibrate. More simply put: We get what we feel we will get. There are even chemicals that the pituitary gland regulates in our body to provide us with the chemical equivalents of our moods. The more we practice peace and joy, the more our body will work to produce chemicals that make it a physical reality as well.

In addition to taking in proper fuel for the body to work with, it is important to take inventory of our lives. Where have we been and where are we going? Most importantly though, we must first ask: What do we want? When we know what we want, we can organize our actions to take steps in the direction of our goals. It reduces the potential for boredom, listlessness, and depression because life won't stand still. It will instead be focused toward a purpose that can act as a self-motivator.

We know that feeling good can be easier said than done to start out, but you can begin to employ exercises that will get you in the habit of producing higher vibrational moods until it becomes second nature. Over the course of 21 days, habits are formed. This makes something as simple as repeating a designated affirmation ten times per day for 21 days an effective action. Likewise adding a health shake to your morning meal for 21 days can become a strong memory for your psyche that reminds you to check your diet to be aware of what you are putting into your body temple.

Here are a few affirmations you can try for 21 days
(you can compose your own as well- Be sure they
are stated in the present tense)
:

I allow myself to feel good and receive good things.

I am worthy of love and good vibrations.

I work diligently toward my goals knowing I will succeed.

I am a success.

My life works for me to help me grow.

I am beautiful inside and out.

I am becoming happier and glow more the happier I become.

My joy is infectious.

I share joy with others.

I am aware of my boundaries and respect them.

Others respect my boundaries.

I am good to my body and my body is good to me.

I have all that I need and want.

I am satisfied with my prosperity and wealth.

These are just a few ideas to start with.
We plan to offer more 'Feel Good' exercises and information
for your growth and success in coming months.

Feel Good!
